Why ISO 22000?

ISO 22000 is the internationally recognised standard for Food Safety Management Systems (FSMS). It specifies the requirements for organisations operating at every stage of the food chain—from primary production and farming to food processing, packaging, transportation, storage, distribution, and final consumption.

The standard is applicable to all organisations involved in the food supply chain, including manufacturers of food ingredients, packaging materials, processing equipment, cleaning products, feed, and other supporting services. Its primary objective is to ensure food safety throughout the entire production and supply process.

The latest version of ISO 22000 incorporates the Plan–Do–Check–Act (PDCA) cycle and risk-based thinking, enabling organisations to integrate food safety management with other ISO management systems. Combined with the HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) methodology, ISO 22000 provides a systematic approach to identifying, preventing, and controlling food safety hazards while reducing business risks and improving overall food safety performance.

Benefits of ISO 22000 Certification

  • Reduced food safety risks throughout the entire food supply chain.
